Weißer Turm

other

The Weißer Turm is a brick and sandstone tower in the center of Nuremberg, identifiable by its clock faces and its position at the end of a busy pedestrian zone. Built around twelve fifty, it once served as a toll station and a defensive gatehouse for the city’s second wall. While the walls themselves were later demolished, the tower survived, earning its name from the white plaster that once coated its masonry.
