Stadtmuseum im Fembo-Haus

The Fembo-Haus remains the only large merchant's house from the late Renaissance that survived the heavy destruction of World War Two in Nuremberg. Built between fifteen ninety-one and fifteen ninety-six by the Dutch silk merchant Philipp van Oyrl, the house occupies a prominent position on Burgstrasse between the city hall and the Imperial Castle. Its facade and interior structure provide a record of the domestic architecture favored by the Nuremberg merchant elite before the majority of the city's historic center was leveled.
