The company traces its origins to nineteen thirty-five, when baker Ludwig List and his wife Marie opened a small shop on the Nuremberg Burgberg. They began by baking bread and rolls but soon focused on the honey-based cakes that define the region. The craft was passed down through generations, eventually leading to the formation of the business now operated by the brothers Michael and Daniel Witte.
