The 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art in Kanazawa is defined by a perfectly circular glass facade that stretches one hundred twelve and a half meters in diameter. Opened in two thousand four, the building was designed by the architectural firm SANAA, led by Kazuyo Sejima and Ryue Nishizawa, to function as an open civic space rather than an isolated monument. It lacks a singular main entrance, instead featuring multiple gates that invite people to move through the structure from any direction.
