Hisago-ike Pond

Hisago-ike Pond is a water feature in Kenrokuen Garden, recognizable by its distinctive gourd-like shape and a narrow center. This pond marks the site where the garden’s original development began, and it remains a tranquil, moss-covered corner of the grounds. A stone pagoda, said to be a gift from Toyotomi Hideyoshi to Toshiie Maeda, rests on a small island within the water.
