Zum Seppl

Zum Seppl is a two-story building on the main street of Heidelberg’s old town, marked by a gable topped with a neogothic finial and a relief of a student on its facade. Constructed in seventeen oh four on the stone foundations of an earlier cellar, it has operated as a tavern for centuries. The establishment takes its name from Joseph Ditteney, who took over the brewery and inn in eighteen forty-eight and became a central figure for the university students who gathered there.
