The Alte Kanzlei features a long, Renaissance-style façade with five portals along the ground floor facing Schillerplatz. Built in phases between fifteen forty-two and fifteen sixty-seven, the structure served for centuries as the administrative heart of the duchy of Württemberg. Within these walls, clerks and officials once managed the state’s finances, maintained registries, and secured legal documents.
