The original Kommunales Kino Stuttgart was once a landmark institution for film culture, located within the Filmhaus on Friedrichstraße. It opened there in nineteen ninety-seven, following the closure of the Amerikahaus that had occupied the building previously. For over a decade, it served as a central hub for cinephiles, hosting festivals like the Filmwinter and Cine Latino, while providing daily screenings and educational programs.
