Mural Jan Heweliusz

The mural of Jan Heweliusz at number twenty-four Wałowa Street depicts the seventeenth-century astronomer sitting at a table with a quill in his hand, surrounded by books and an astrolabe. Created in two thousand twenty-one by artist Sebastian Bożek, the work spans one hundred eighty square meters on the side of the Polish Academy of Sciences Library building. It incorporates a grid of vertical and horizontal lines and includes the date fifteen ninety-six, which marks the founding year of the library.
