The seventeenth-century Zespół Sierocińca, or Orphanage Complex, stands near the streets of Gdańsk as a rare survivor from the late sixteen hundreds. You can identify this cluster of buildings by its low, modest brick architecture, which Barthl Ranisch designed and constructed between sixteen ninety-eight and sixteen ninety-nine. It served as a charitable refuge for orphans, the elderly, and the impoverished, operating continuously for over two centuries until nineteen oh six.
