Puppy

The twelve-meter-tall floral sculpture of a West Highland white terrier, known simply as Puppy, is defined by a coat of thirty-eight thousand living plants. Created by the American artist Jeff Koons, this steel-structured dog relies on an internal irrigation system to maintain the begonias, petunias, and other blooms that decorate its frame. The sculpture has occupied its position outside the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao since the museum opened in October nineteen ninety-seven.
