China Beach is a small, sheltered cove tucked between the cliffs of Lands End and Baker Beach. It is marked by a stone monument at the trailhead near the parking area at the end of Sea Cliff Avenue. The monument, donated in nineteen eighty-one, features Chinese characters and honors the Chinese fishermen who camped in this cove during the Gold Rush era of the mid-nineteenth century.
