A bronze equestrian statue of Joan of Arc stands on the front lawn of the California Palace of the Legion of Honor, located in Lincoln Park. This life-sized sculpture depicts the French heroine mid-stride, her horse captured with a sense of forward motion. It was created by the American sculptor Anna Vaughn Hyatt Huntington, who based the horse's anatomy on a fire department horse from her hometown of Gloucester, Massachusetts.
