The Lycée Jean-de-La-Fontaine occupies a prominent open-rectangle structure at one place de la Porte-Molitor, built directly atop the site of Paris's former defensive fortifications. Designed by architect Gabriel Héraud, the building was constructed between nineteen thirty-five and nineteen thirty-eight. It initially opened as a secondary school exclusively for girls, created to help relieve enrollment pressure on the nearby Lycée Molière.
