Eighty-eight Micklegate is a three-story Georgian townhouse built of orange-red brick, recognizable by the ornate, scrolled iron lamp brackets that flank its front door. Completed by seventeen fifty-two, it stands as the most significant Georgian residence southwest of the River Ouse. The architect John Carr is widely credited with its design, though no documents definitively confirm his hand in the project.
