Multangular Tower

The Multangular Tower stands in the Museum Gardens as a ten-sided stone sentinel. It was built as the western corner of the Roman legionary fortress of Eboracum, allowing soldiers to project their defenses outward from the main fortress wall. While the tower looks mostly rounded at a glance, its ten distinct sides were designed to hold three internal floors, with the highest level likely supporting a Roman catapult.
