York Minster

York Minster, officially the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, is distinguished by its vast, cream-colored magnesian limestone towers that rise high above the city center. As the seat of the Archbishop of York, this Gothic cathedral has served as the mother church for the northern province of England since the Middle Ages. Its structure, built primarily between twelve twenty and fourteen seventy-two, encompasses the major stages of English Gothic architectural development.
