Golden Fleece York

food drink

The Golden Fleece on Pavement is a narrow, deep inn marked by the golden sheep figure hanging above its entrance. Mentioned in York City archives as early as fifteen oh three, the building occupies a site once linked to the Merchant Adventurers, who traded in the wool that gave the inn its name. While the current structure dates largely to a rebuild around eighteen forty, it retains a historic connection to the city’s coaching trade and stands adjacent to the medieval timber-framed Herbert House.
