National Trust - Treasurer's House, York

The Treasurer’s House sits directly to the north of York Minster, identifiable by its symmetrical seventeenth-century frontage and the quiet, award-winning gardens tucked behind it. Originally built for the medieval treasurers who managed the Minster’s finances starting in ten ninety-one, the structure passed through various hands after the Reformation. In eighteen ninety-seven, a wealthy industrialist named Frank Green purchased the decaying property and transformed it into a grand show home, meticulously arranging thirteen period rooms to display his vast collection of art and antiques.
